The operations, carried out between 23 and 30 August 2025, were supported by close air support from the Air Component and local security outfits.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, “The deliberate offensives cut across Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum in Chibok, Mandarari in Konduga, Gajigana in Magumeri, and other locations. The coordinated effort denied terrorists freedom of movement and further dismantled their logistics networks.”
Troops recovered AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade tubes and bombs, assorted ammunition, and intercepted 242 bags of NPK fertilizer intended for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). They also safely detonated several planted IEDs while foiling fresh supply attempts to insurgent enclaves.
The military command commended the troops for their resilience, reaffirming support to sustain momentum against insurgency. “The determined offensives continue to create enabling conditions for socio-economic life to thrive across the North East,” the statement added.
Fact-Check & Background Context:
Operation HADIN KAI is the Nigerian military’s counterinsurgency umbrella in the North East.
The interception of 242 bags of NPK fertilizer is critical, as past UN and intelligence reports confirm that insurgents in the Lake Chad basin use fertilizer as a key ingredient for IED production.
Arresting logistics suppliers disrupts insurgent supply chains a strategy aligned with military doctrine that targeting support networks is as decisive as neutralizing fighters in the field.
