At a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, MPDF Convener, Hajiya Bilikisu Aminu, said the gesture assures widows and children of soldiers of a brighter tomorrow. “Wives and children of fallen heroes always feared for the future, but with the DEPOWA initiative they are assured of a brighter tomorrow,” she said.

She commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for backing DEPOWA since his assumption of office in 2023. The Forum urged troops to reciprocate the gesture by decisively confronting enemies of the country.

We congratulate troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and our Police for this ground-breaking initiative by DEPOWA. It is an assurance that you have solid backing as you pursue and deal with those who say we will have no peace in our country,” Aminu added.

On her part, the MPDF Secretary, Mrs. Ifeoma Igwe, said Mrs. Musa’s leadership has introduced multiple initiatives to bring succour to families of fallen heroes and serving personnel. She stressed that such success would not have been possible without the full support of the CDS.

This goes to show that our amiable Chief of Defence Staff is determined to use not only kinetic, but non-kinetic means to restore peace in our country,” Mrs. Igwe said.
