🇳🇬 Operation Lafiya Nakowa: 6 Brigade, Police Rescue Six Kidnapped Victims in Taraba



Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Lafiya Nakowa in synergy with the Nigeria Police, have rescued six kidnapped victims, including a child, during a swift joint operation in Taraba State.

The rescue followed the abduction of passengers travelling in a Toyota Carina II from Katsina-Ala, Benue State, who were forced off the road by armed kidnappers around an abandoned checkpoint on 2 October 2025. Acting on credible intelligence, troops and police operatives immediately mobilized, combing the general area and successfully freeing all six victims.


Those rescued include Mr. Terna Gbaya (43), Mr. Musa Adamu (55), Mrs. Rose Sor (35), Mrs. Lydia Vyiashima (40), Mrs. Comfort Iyofar (60), and a baby. The victims have since been reunited with their families, while search efforts continue to apprehend the perpetrators and free any remaining captives.




According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops and police for their swift response and strong inter-agency collaboration. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Taraba State.


General Uwa further urged residents to support ongoing operations by providing credible and timely information that can help security forces track down criminal networks.
