According to a statement issued by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, investigations revealed that most of the officers’ grievances stemmed from repeated failures in promotion examinations, leading to perceptions of career stagnation. Some were already under jurisdiction for various offences, either awaiting or undergoing trial, when the fresh breaches were discovered.

“Upon completion of investigation, indicted officers will face the full military disciplinary process in accordance with established procedures to ensure accountability and preserve professionalism within the Armed Forces,” the Defence spokesman stated.

The Armed Forces emphasized that the arrests are strictly disciplinary measures to reinforce order, loyalty, and institutional integrity under democratic authority. The military leadership maintained that no behaviour capable of undermining its constitutional responsibilities will be tolerated.
