The Corps of Military Police must continue to lead by example as the custodian of discipline and regimentation within the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has declared.

General Waidi who was represented by the Chief of Training (Army), Major General Valentine Okoro at the event made the remark while declaring open the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police (NACMP) Biannual Training Workshop 2025 at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre, Abuja.
The Army Chief emphasized that the workshop, reintroduced after observed gaps in professional competencies, is designed to sustain professional development and enhance the capacity of Corps personnel in support of Nigerian Army operations. He noted that the increasingly dynamic and asymmetric nature of modern warfare demands a holistic and flexible approach, integrating lessons from field operations with intellectual reflection and doctrinal innovation.
“The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our nation. As the Corps of Military Police, you must uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct at all times,” Lieutenant General Shaibu affirmed.
He further encouraged participants to use the lectures and interactive sessions to broaden knowledge, sharpen skills, and rededicate themselves to service, discipline, and integrity.
The COAS also commended the Provost Marshal (Army) and leadership of the Corps for organising the first biannual training workshop since 2013, highlighting their commitment to restoring a vital tradition that aligns with the Nigerian Army’s vision for professionalism and accountability. Distinguished resource persons were acknowledged for sharing knowledge and experiences that will strengthen the Corps’ operational and policing capabilities.
On behalf of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Shaibu expressed gratitude to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his strategic guidance and unwavering support, which continues to enhance Nigeria’s national security and operational readiness.
The workshop aims to stimulate critical thinking, reinforce professional competence, and prepare the Corps of Military Police to function effectively in joint and multi-agency operational environments.
