🇹🇩 Major General Saidu Audu assumes command at MNJTF Headquarters

 


Major General Saidu Tanko Audu has officially assumed command as the new Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), following a formal handing and taking over ceremony held today at the MNJTF Headquarters in N’Djamena, Chad.

The new appointment comes as part of the recent Nigerian Army Headquarters redeployment of senior officers following the appointment of new Service Chiefs.


According to a statement by the Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, the outgoing Force Commander, Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, appreciated the Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, Military Staff Officers, African Union Mission Support Team, European Union, and other partners for their sustained support. 




He urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor as he proceeds to his new role as Corps Commander, Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army.


In his maiden address, Major General Audu thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him. 




He pledged to consolidate on the existing gains of the MNJTF, deepen regional synergy, and foster collaboration with communities and stakeholders to strengthen stability and peace in the Lake Chad region.


The ceremony featured the signing and exchange of handing and taking over notes, the symbolic handover of the command flag, and a group photograph marking the leadership transition.
