🇳🇬 COAS Commissions State Of The Art Wargaming Centre To Boost Operational Readiness




The Nigerian Army has taken a major step in strengthening its operational readiness with the commissioning of a State of the Art Wargaming Centre at the Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji.

The facility, inaugurated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, marks a decisive push to modernize training systems and improve the Army’s capacity for mission planning, battlefield simulation and operational deployment across all theatres.

 

A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Apolonia Anele said, the Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the strategic role of AFCSC as a centre of excellence responsible for shaping officers capable of responding to Nigeria’s evolving threats. He stressed that the Wargaming Centre will play a central role in enhancing operational planning and precision-driven execution.

 




He described investment in advanced training technologies as essential for staying ahead of adversaries and improving the Army’s deployment efficiency across difficult and fluid operational terrains.

 

The COAS noted that AFCSC remains a globally respected institution attracting officers from across the world, adding that modern facilities such as the Wargaming Centre are indispensable to sustaining that reputation.

 

He appreciated the unwavering support of the President and Commander in Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, whose commitment to strengthening national security continues to drive the Nigerian Army’s modernization efforts. He also commended the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Alhaji and the College community for their dedication to excellence.

 




Speaking earlier, the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan  Alhaji said the new Centre, conceived under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, will sharpen officers’ ability to develop modern operational concepts, refine strategic thinking and strengthen combat decision-making skills required for today’s dynamic security environment.

 

“We are committed to producing officers who are intellectually prepared for command, instructional and staff duties across complex security environments,” he stated.

The Commandant commended the Chief of Army Staff for the facility, assuring that the College will continue to support the Department of Land Warfare in delivering world-class professional military education.

 




He noted that the new Wargaming Centre, conceptualised and driven by the Chief of Army Staff, will significantly enhance the capacity of personnel to develop modern operational concepts, refine strategic thinking and improve combat decision-making processes essential for today’s dynamic battlefield.
