The Defence Headquarters disclosed that the investigation reports have been completed and forwarded to the appropriate superior authorities in line with extant military regulations, marking the conclusion of the probe first announced in October 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the comprehensive investigation was conducted in line with established military procedures and examined all circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel.

The findings, the statement noted, identified a number of the officers with allegations relating to plotting to overthrow the government, conduct described as inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Those officers with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations, a process the military said would ensure accountability while upholding fairness and due process.

The Armed Forces stressed that the actions being taken are purely disciplinary and form part of ongoing institutional mechanisms to preserve order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks.

The military further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority.
