The Federal Character Commission has a new Executive Chairman as Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran formally assumed leadership from former Acting Chairman, Hon. Kayode Oladele, during a handover ceremony at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Executive Chairman, the Commission noted that the transition followed Omidiran’s swearing-in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last Thursday, and marked the continuation of institutional stability and operational continuity at the Commission.
Hon. Omidiran expressed appreciation for her predecessor’s stewardship, stating, “I accept this responsibility with a profound sense of honour and commitment. I sincerely appreciate Hon. Kayode Oladele for his dedication, stability, and efforts in steering the Commission over the past almost seven months.” She assured commissioners and staff of inclusive leadership, transparency, fairness, and national cohesion, pledging to strengthen internal processes and enhance the Commission’s effectiveness.
The new Executive Chairman, who represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, formally submitted handover documents to the Commission’s Verification Committee and announced the constitution of statutory and ad hoc committees to reinforce operational efficiency.
The event was attended by the Secretary of the Commission, Mohammed Musa, state commissioners, key stakeholders, and members of the media, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to a seamless and professional leadership transition.
