🇳🇬 Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnap Victim, Intensifies Operations Against Terrorists in Kogi

 


Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army under 2 Division Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnap victims following a rapid response operation in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, while sustaining pursuit operations against the attackers.

The Army disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, that troops responded after terrorists invaded a residence near Solid Rock School, Ijalu, Egbe, abducting five members of a family.


Rapid Response Forces Terrorists Into Retreat


According to the statement, the incident occurred late on 3 June 2026, prompting immediate mobilisation by troops working alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).


The coordinated response forced the attackers to abandon Mrs Adekemi Idowu and her six-month-old child along the Oro axis before escaping into surrounding areas.


The rescued victims were safely returned to their residence, while security forces continued aggressive search operations aimed at locating the remaining abducted persons and apprehending the perpetrators.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to continue providing credible information that can support ongoing security operations.


The operation highlights the continued security focus on disrupting criminal networks and preventing armed groups from sustaining freedom of movement across vulnerable communities.
