The Acting Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele in a statement disclosed that the renewed partnership followed a meeting between the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and a GTBank delegation led by Executive Director Mr Ahmed Liman at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
During the engagement, the COAS described GTBank as a dependable institutional partner whose financial innovations continue to complement the Army's transformation agenda by promoting financial inclusion, improving administrative efficiency and supporting personnel welfare.
Lieutenant General Shaibu noted that the Presidential approval for increased recruitment and the establishment of new formations require a technology-driven banking system capable of delivering seamless financial services to personnel across the country. He stressed that accessible and efficient financial services remain an important component of operational readiness and institutional resilience.
In line with the Nigerian Army's Soldier First philosophy, the COAS called on GTBank to broaden its corporate social responsibility initiatives to include wounded-in-action personnel, widows and orphans of fallen soldiers. He also requested the deployment of Automated Teller Machines to newly established and remote military barracks to improve banking access, reduce unnecessary troop movement and enhance operational responsiveness.
Mr Ahmed Liman reaffirmed GTBank's commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army through tailored financial solutions aligned with government regulations, including compliance with the Treasury Single Account policy. He outlined the bank's specialised services for government institutions, including dedicated trade desks for processing Letters of Credit to facilitate defence procurement, secure digital salary administration platforms, contractor payment solutions and institutional funds management services.
The GTBank Executive Director also highlighted military-focused products such as the GT Patriot Account, which offers waived banking charges and concessionary lending rates for personnel, alongside pension management services designed to strengthen the long-term financial security of Nigerian Army officers and soldiers.
The engagement reflects the Nigerian Army's growing emphasis on leveraging strategic public-private partnerships to improve troop welfare, modernise institutional support systems and reinforce operational effectiveness beyond the battlefield.
