The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded further operational successes in Borno and Adamawa States with the surrender of a Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province fighter carrying a weapon and the arrest of six suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate.

On 13 September 2026, troops of 29 Task Force Brigade operating under Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI, in conjunction with Forest Guards, received a surrendered BH/ISWAP fighter at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, as contained in a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, on 14 September 2026.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the fighter had escaped from a terrorist enclave with the intention of abandoning terrorism. Recovered from him were one AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, four magazines, one Improvised Explosive Device, one magazine pouch and a bicycle.
The surrendered fighter remains in military custody for further investigation and profiling in accordance with extant procedures.
In a separate operation in Adamawa State, troops of Sector 4 Operation HADIN KAI acted on credible human intelligence concerning a suspected kidnapping syndicate operating around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area.
Working with local hunters, the troops swiftly mobilised and raided the identified hideout, arresting three suspected members of the syndicate and recovering one Dane gun.
Further investigation and subsequent covert operations resulted in the arrest of three additional suspects, bringing the total number apprehended to six.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the syndicate had been operating across the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero general areas of Song Local Government Area. The suspects also reportedly admitted involvement in the abduction of several victims for ransom and other violent crimes in the area.
The six suspects remain in military custody for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The operations reinforce the pressure being maintained by Operation HADIN KAI against terrorist and criminal networks across its Joint Operations Area, with intelligence, local cooperation and targeted operations contributing to efforts to disrupt both terrorist activity and organised criminal operations.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action, improving security for law-abiding citizens and creating conditions for socioeconomic activities to thrive.
