Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 12 civilians during separate operations against terrorists in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

The operations, conducted on 7 September 2026, also disrupted attempts by terrorists to abduct civilians in the two locations, with troops responding swiftly to distress calls and suspicious movements along a major supply route.
In the first incident at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda LGA, troops responded to a distress call after terrorists infiltrated a residence and engaged them, forcing the attackers to abandon six abducted civilians and flee across a nearby river. The rescued victims were subsequently evacuated and reunited with their families.
In a separate operation in Tsafe LGA, troops monitoring activities along the Main Supply Route observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni Village. Troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abort the attempted abduction and withdraw into adjoining bush. Six civilians were subsequently rescued from the area.
Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed in a statement that the operations further demonstrate the commitment of troops to protecting civilians and disrupting terrorist activities across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged members of the public to continue providing relevant information to security agencies to support ongoing operations against terrorist elements.
