Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have sustained pressure on terrorist and criminal networks in the North East, arresting four suspected Boko Haram terrorists after a night ambush in Yobe State while 11 terrorists surrendered between 15 and 22 September 2026.

The latest operation also resulted in the arrest of nine suspected drug dealers, while troops recovered a vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items during operations aimed at disrupting terrorist networks and restricting their freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, laid an ambush east of Azare Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State at about 23:00 on 21 September.
The troops made contact with suspected terrorists during the operation and engaged them in a firefight.
During subsequent exploitation of the area, four suspected terrorists were arrested. Troops also recovered four bicycles, a large quantity of groceries, one sheep and expended 7.62mm Special ammunition cases.
Blood traces observed in the general area indicated possible casualties among fleeing terrorist elements, according to the statement.
The arrested suspects and recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation, while exploitation of the area continues.
In a separate operation, troops of the same Brigade arrested nine suspected drug dealers during a routine patrol in Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA, on 19 September.
The suspects were found with a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and cannabis, two mobile phones and ₦85,900 in cash.
The arrests, the statement said, formed part of efforts to disrupt criminal activities capable of undermining security and creating conditions that could facilitate terrorism and other violent crimes.
The suspects and exhibits have since been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The latest arrests come alongside the surrender of 11 terrorists and the recovery of a vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items recorded by OPHK troops between 15 and 22 September.
The Joint Task Force said the cumulative operational successes reflected the continuing pressure being maintained against terrorist elements and their support networks across the North East.
Operation HADIN KAI said it would sustain operations aimed at disrupting terrorist and criminal networks and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
