The Cameroonians who are five-time champions of the tournament edged The Gambia 3-2 in a kinly contested group C finale in Bouake on Tuesday.
Continental powerhouse Nigeria and Cameroon have eight Africa Cup of Nations titles between them, with the Eagles champions of Africa in 1980, 1994 and 2013, while the Lions triumphed in 1984, 1988, 2000, 2002 and 2017.
Cameroon had to overcome Nigeria to take the first three wins. The Super Eagles had also had it's triumph over the Lions in the tournament and other engagements within the continent.
