Dr. Yuguda Identifies Patriotism Professionalism, Determination, Social Justice As Panacea For Secure Society

For Nigeria to attain the desired heights in security, it will take determination, the will to do it and a well motivated personnel that have the ingredients of patriotism, ethics, professionalism, gainful employment and social justice.

The Former Governor of Bauchi State Dr. Isa Yuguda, stated this  at the National Stakeholders Summit On State Police Proposal, Organized by the Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security And Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) held at the Army Resource Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.
Speaking at the summit organised in collaboration with Nigerian Police Force with the Theme: State police proposal: Efficiency over expansion: Solutions for police optimisation, Dr. Yuguda stressed that a country that is secure is the one in which investment flourishes.

According to the soft spoken politician, for the Nigerian Police and security agencies to perform optimally, Nigeria as a country must dig deep into the challenges confronting the personnel before it can get the best out of them,
He used the opportunity to call on the citizenry to also be alert and awake to the responsibility of supporting the government in realistic terms to help the country grow. He equally charged the participants to always think of coming up with solutions and ways to move the country forward.

"We need to fix our police, are they well trained, well remunerated, equipped to do their jobs or receiving training an average policeman should get, are we under policed?
We must first address the issues affecting our police rather than create another police outfit that may become a danger with weapons"
"To secure a nation, a state is about commitment to protect lives and property and you must remember that you will account for everything that you illegally acquire as a leader, so there must be a will on the part of the governors"

The Royal Father at the occasion, Chief Ayini Clement, who advocates for State police, stated that the Federal police needs to be Strenghten to be able to do their job well. He said the advantage of a state police is that all the locals from whom State police are employed is that they know the terrain and the people within each community.
The Director General Security and Forensic Study in Nigeria, Dr. Okocha Morgan advised the government to key into reformation and restructuring of security in Nigeria which entails training and retraining of personnel as well as recruiting of qualified persons.

Earlier the Director General, Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security And Safety Affairs (CONYSA) Ambassador Ade Emmanuel, said the idea behind the submit was to deliberate on the merits and demerits of State police being agitated for.
We don't need expansion in policing, but for the police we have to be Strenghten and equipped enough to handle the affairs.

"The young people have what it take to fight insecurity if properly mainstreamed, state police may be thriving in other countries that are more developed, advance and patriotic than we are, implementing it here can lead to anarchy. The state governments need to work effectively with the Federal police for us to get it better and right with the right approach and will".
The submit also featured Presentation of overview on State Policing by the leadership of Man of Order and Disciplined Movement in Nigeria, representatives of various military and Paramilitary Agencies in Nigeria amongs other stakeholders.
