The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, made the case at the opening of a military data management seminar in Abuja, stressing accountability, accuracy, and digital adoption as key drivers of modern warfare readiness.

Represented by Major General Philip Eromosele, Deputy Director General at the Nigerian Army Future Heritage and Future Centre, the COAS said the Army is raising the bar in document security, data storage and digital tracking systems.

“Accurate data management and efficient record keeping are vital tools for monitoring progress, identifying gaps, and addressing emerging security challenges,” General Oluyede said.

He stressed that high standards in information handling would boost strategic decision-making, ensure accountability, and keep the Army aligned with evolving security threats.

The Army Chief further reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s loyalty to the Constitution, its constitutional mandate, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Commander-in-Chief.

The Military Secretary (Army), Major General Everest Okoro, said the seminar was designed to promote excellence in record keeping and align practices with global best standards, noting the commitment of the COAS to modernising internal systems.

The three-day seminar, themed “Effective Data Management and Record Keeping: A Key Element in Ensuring a Professional Nigerian Army in a Digital Era”, is holding at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.
