🇳🇬 AFCSC Flags Off Exercise HASKE BIYU 2025, Spotlight on Family and National Security

The College Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, said the three-week event, running from 15 September to 3 October 2025, would serve as a national problem-solving platform aimed at sharpening responses to internal security and counter-insurgency challenges.

According to him, “the theme ‘Family and National Security’ underscores the critical role family units play in fostering peace, stability, and resilience within the nation.” He added that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON, CON, will attend the opening ceremony as Special Guest of Honour, symbolising the link between household values and national defence.

The exercise brings together senior officers of Senior Course 47, drawn from the Armed Forces, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the media, NGOs, and strategic partners. Over the three weeks, participants will brainstorm, research, and simulate national-level solutions to security threats, with a focus on soft power approaches, conflict resolution, and inter-agency collaboration.

A special highlight tagged “A Day in the Life of a Soldier” will allow select media practitioners and non-military participants to experience military routines firsthand. This innovation, Olukoya explained, is designed to break barriers, foster mutual understanding, and deepen civil-military relations.

Beyond drills and discussions, Exercise HASKE BIYU 2025 is framed as more than a military training. It is a collective call to rethink how family values, community resilience, and national security are interwoven in Nigeria’s fight against insurgency and internal strife.
