The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, praised AFIT’s enduring tradition of discipline, innovation, and academic excellence while charging graduands to safeguard the Service’s next-generation aircraft with professionalism.

AFIT, established nearly five decades ago, has remained central to the Nigerian Air Force’s drive for self-reliance in technology and innovation. At the colourful graduation ceremony, Air Marshal Abubakar commended the institute for its zero tolerance for strikes, adherence to federal character, and reputation as one of Nigeria’s most respected academic centres.

“AFIT stands tall as one of the most sought-after institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, a reputation built on academic excellence, strict discipline, and innovation,” the CAS remarked.

He highlighted AFIT’s growing national impact, citing the establishment of the NASENI North-West Technology Innovation Hub and its tuition-free training of Nigerian Army personnel as examples of its expanding relevance beyond the Air Force.

Addressing the graduands, the CAS charged them to apply their knowledge with precision and dedication: “You are now the custodians of our platforms, entrusted with their safety, airworthiness, and mission readiness. The Service looks to you to ensure our assets remain combat-ready at all times.”

The Commandant of AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, thanked the CAS for his support, noting significant growth in infrastructure, training, and research. He reaffirmed AFIT’s commitment to producing disciplined professionals for Nigeria’s defence capacity.

In a symbolic gesture, the CAS presented awards to outstanding graduands, recalling his own journey as AFIT’s best graduating student in 1992.
