The raid, carried out on Thursday 11 September 2025 in Kogul Village, Mangu LGA, is a key move in dismantling criminal networks behind cattle rustling, a recurring trigger of violent clashes in the region.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, a fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash.
The arrested suspects and seized items are in custody for further investigation, while follow-up operations are underway to track down other members of the syndicate.
Major Zhakom stressed that the arrest represents a significant step in tackling the root causes of crisis in the Joint Operations Area, adding that troops remain committed to sustaining peace and security across Plateau State.
