The NSA who stated this at the National Peace Committee Dialogue on a Whole of Society Approach to the Prevention of Violence and Conflict in Northern Nigeria, reffirmed the cuurent administration’s commitment to an inclusive national approach to preventing violence and conflict, calling for deeper collaboration among communities, institutions, and development partners.
According to him, the dialogue reflects the growing national and international recognition that peacebuilding and security require the participation of all sectors of society. He commended the National Peace Committee for convening leaders, experts, and stakeholders at a critical time for the country.
The NSA stated that the administration remains committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises inclusion, accountability, institutional strengthening, and opportunities for citizens. He said the National Counter Terrorism Centre has been directed to intensify its Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism programmes, ensuring that interventions remain community centred and intelligence driven.
He highlighted tangible progress, noting that thousands of former insurgents and violent actors have voluntarily surrendered and entered rehabilitation, deradicalization, and reintegration programmes. Communities that previously distrusted government interventions are now cooperating, providing information, and supporting reintegration and early warning systems across vulnerable regions.
The NSA also revealed that terrorism related prosecutions have yielded over 775 convictions, reinforcing the rule of law and demonstrating the effectiveness of aligned efforts between the judiciary, security agencies, and national institutions working collaboratively under the whole of society framework.
He cautioned that progress must not lead to complacency, urging participants to move from dialogue to measurable action that strengthens resilience, restores trust, and deepens stability across Northern Nigeria and the entire country.
He issued a strong warning to non state actors, stating that the Nigerian State remains firm in its resolve to defend citizens and uphold law and order. He said anyone seeking to exploit communities or undermine national unity will face coordinated and decisive action.
The NSA reiterated that every Nigerian deserves peace, dignity, and security, and that national development is anchored on stability, justice, and opportunity. He emphasized that government cannot achieve these objectives alone, calling for all hands to remain on deck to strengthen partnerships and shared responsibility.
He expressed gratitude to the National Peace Committee, its Secretariat, traditional and religious leaders, civil society groups, women and youth organisations, development partners, the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, ECOWAS, and international collaborators for their continued support in driving inclusive peacebuilding.
The NSA concluded by noting that security is the duty of all citizens, not the responsibility of a few, and urged participants to translate discussions into enduring solutions that bring hope, progress, and stability to communities across Northern Nigeria
