🇳🇬 Troops Neutralise Armed Gunmen in Ambush Operation in Plateau

 


Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised two armed gunmen during a coordinated ambush operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, in a targeted strike against criminal elements operating in the area.

The operation, conducted on the evening of 21 April 2026 near Doruwa Babuje in the Marit axis, followed credible intelligence on the movement of armed groups linked to violent attacks on local communities, according to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE.

Troops laid in wait and sprang the ambush upon contact, engaging the gunmen in a firefight that resulted in the neutralisation of two assailants, while others fled into surrounding bushes under cover of darkness.

Recovered Items

A search of the area led to the recovery of one locally fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.

Follow-On Operations

Troops have maintained positions within the Marit and Lajam general areas to secure communities and prevent further incursions, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend fleeing suspects.
