The Passing Out Parade at Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, marked another phase in the Army's drive to build a more professional, combat-ready and mission-focused force capable of supporting Nigeria's evolving security requirements, as contained in a statement issued by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the new intake forms part of the Federal Government's directive for the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel to strengthen the Army's force structure. He explained that the expansion is intended to address manpower requirements, improve operational effectiveness and increase the Army's capacity to respond decisively to emerging security challenges across the country.

The Army Chief noted that the recruits completed rigorous military training designed to develop physical endurance, tactical competence, leadership qualities and the fighting spirit required for contemporary military operations. He added that they are joining the Service at a time when troops remain actively deployed across multiple theatres in defence of Nigeria's sovereignty, territorial integrity and the protection of lives and property.

Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the newly graduated soldiers to uphold discipline, professionalism, courage, loyalty and selfless service throughout their careers, reminding them that significant national resources had been invested in their recruitment, training and development.

He further directed the soldiers to remain resilient and committed to duty while conducting all operations in line with military ethics, professional standards and respect for human rights, expressing confidence that the additional manpower would reinforce ongoing operations and contribute to improving security across the country.

Earlier, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, represented by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, congratulated the graduating soldiers on completing their training. He commended their resilience and discipline while reaffirming the state's commitment to supporting the Armed Forces in promoting peace, security and national development.

The latest graduation reflects the Nigerian Army's broader manpower expansion strategy as it seeks to strengthen frontline formations with additional trained personnel capable of sustaining current operations while improving long-term operational readiness against Nigeria's complex security threats.
