🇳🇬 Terrorist Surrenders Surge 213 Per Cent As Sustained OPHK Pressure Exposes Cracks In North-East Insurgency

Sustained military pressure by Operation HADIN KAI has produced a 213 per cent week-on-week increase in terrorist fighters and associates surrendering to troops, pointing to growing pressure on terrorist cohesion and their ability to sustain operations across the North-East.

The increase followed coordinated ground operations, engagements against identified terrorist positions and sustained disruption of terrorist logistics and supply routes designed to restrict the movement, resupply and operational freedom of terrorist elements.

According to a statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, the Theatre recorded the increase in surrenders over the period under review compared with the preceding week.

The statement said two high-profile terrorist members also surrendered to troops on 12 August 2026 with arms, ammunition and other military items. The recovery, according to the Theatre Command, further indicates the effect of sustained operational pressure on the cohesion, morale and operational sustainability of terrorist elements.

The Theatre also reported the surrender of other terrorist members to troops of 202 Battalion in Bama on 7 August at New Abaram. Their surrender followed sustained military operations and internal disagreements within the terrorist enclave. The group was screened, with mobile phones and other items recovered, before being handed over for further action in accordance with established procedures.

The latest developments suggest that the operational effect of OPHK’s campaign is extending beyond battlefield engagements to the internal resilience of terrorist networks. Continued pressure on positions, movement corridors and logistics routes is reducing the space available to terrorist elements to manoeuvre, regroup and replenish their capabilities.

The Theatre Command said the increasing frequency of surrenders reflects the cumulative effect of its multi-dimensional approach, combining offensive ground operations, precision engagements and systematic disruption of terrorist logistics and supply networks.

Operation HADIN KAI said it would sustain military pressure against terrorist elements while maintaining established channels for those who choose to surrender, with the broader objective of degrading terrorist capabilities and creating conditions for lasting peace and stability across the North-East.

The Theatre Command also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies and encouraged terrorists and their associates to abandon violence and make use of available surrender channels.
