Location: Langtang North LGA, Plateau State, Nigeria
The operation was initiated after troops arrested and interrogated a suspected bandit who provided information on the location of a concealed weapon in Nwur Village, Langtang North Local Government Area. Troops subsequently escorted the suspect to the area as part of efforts to recover the weapon.
As the team approached the suspected hideout, members of the criminal syndicate opened fire on the troops. The soldiers responded with superior firepower, neutralising one of the attackers. The arrested suspect was also killed during the ensuing firefight.
An exploitation of the area after the engagement led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, which were reportedly abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
The recovery provides troops with both a weapons seizure and an operational lead into the activities of the wider syndicate, as exploitation operations continue in the area to locate and neutralise other members of the group.
Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and protecting law-abiding residents across Plateau State.
