A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced two relatives of eliminated terrorist kingpin Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo to a combined 40 years imprisonment for terrorism-related offences.
Desk: Defence & Security
Date: Friday, 19 June 2026
Time: 14:40 WAT
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
The convicts, Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi, were sentenced after pleading guilty to charges bordering on aiding terrorist activities, passing information to a terrorist network and concealing intelligence on criminal operations.
Conviction Follows Terror Financing Investigation
The court proceedings followed their arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged links to Battujo, who was eliminated by Nigerian security forces on 10 June 2026 after an attempted mass abduction and attack on WAEC students in a forest near Iluke, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa convicted the women on three terrorism-related counts brought by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
Court Finds Evidence Of Support Network
The court heard that both women aided and abetted Battujo’s activities by communicating with him and passing information through telephone conversations.
One of the convicts was also found guilty of concealing information about Battujo’s activities, including knowledge of his possession of firearms after visiting his forest camp.
Sentences To Run Concurrently
The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently, with the convicts expected to undergo rehabilitation after serving their terms.
The ruling highlights ongoing efforts by security and justice institutions to dismantle support structures linked to terrorist networks beyond frontline operations.
