The operational update was disclosed in a statement released by Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni 10 July, 2026Operation HADIN KAI, following coordinated terrorist attacks in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Theatre Command, between 0020 hours and 0230 hours, terrorists simultaneously attempted to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis as part of efforts to penetrate Maiduguri metropolis. However, troops, supported by established early warning mechanisms, detected the advancing insurgents and engaged them from multiple directions with effective firepower, disrupting the coordinated assault before the attackers could gain access.

The statement further disclosed that troops also repelled separate infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai, further demonstrating the Theatre's ability to respond simultaneously across multiple operational fronts. During the pursuit of withdrawing terrorists at Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle activated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). No casualties were recorded, while military authorities confirmed that the operational situation remained under control.

Military authorities assessed that the swift tactical response forced the terrorists into a disorderly withdrawal across all attack routes, preventing what appeared to be a coordinated attempt to test defensive positions around key locations in Borno State. Clearance and exploitation operations are continuing to pursue fleeing insurgents, consolidate battlefield gains and deny terrorist elements any opportunity to reorganise.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven offensive operations aimed at denying terrorist groups freedom of movement while protecting lives, critical infrastructure and communities across the North-East. The Theatre Command also urged residents to continue supporting security operations through the timely provision of credible information.
