🇳🇬 Cholera Outbreak Reportedly Weakens ISWAP Camps In Timbuktu Triangle

Reports from local sources indicate that a cholera outbreak has struck Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) camps within the Timbuktu Triangle, reportedly killing at least nine fighters and further straining the group's operational resilience in Borno State.

According to the sources, the disease has spread across several insurgent enclaves, exposing poor sanitation conditions and the limited availability of medical care inside the terrorist network.

The outbreak is also believed to have been worsened by sustained military operations that have disrupted ISWAP's logistics chain, including the interception of medical supplies and other support materials by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in recent operations.

The sources further alleged that two additional ISWAP members who contracted the disease were executed by fellow fighters after attempts to manage their condition at Kimba village reportedly failed. Zig Diaries could not independently verify the claim.

If confirmed, the outbreak would represent another operational setback for the terrorist organisation beyond battlefield losses. In recent months, sustained military offensives have increasingly targeted ISWAP's logistics infrastructure, supply routes and support networks, placing additional pressure on the group's ability to sustain its fighters and maintain operational capability.

The reported health crisis also highlights how prolonged military pressure can erode not only a terrorist group's combat strength but also its internal support systems, further constraining its capacity to operate across the North-East.
