The operational gains were disclosed in an update issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, highlighting a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted on 2 July across the North West theatre.

Troops of Sector 2 operating in Katsina State engaged armed terrorists on a fighting patrol between Amara and Chakau Junction in Danmusa Local Government Area after the fleeing criminals opened fire on advancing troops. The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat while recovering an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.

In another operation around Sabon Garin and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, troops, working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, responded swiftly to a terrorist attack, neutralising one of the assailants during the exchange of fire.

The operation also led to the rescue of the District Head of Farin Hawa Village, Mr Mubarak Sharin, who had been abducted by terrorists during an attack on the community in Malumfashi Local Government Area. Troops pursuing the fleeing terrorists made contact with the criminals, neutralised one terrorist and disrupted the group's withdrawal before successfully rescuing the traditional ruler.

In neighbouring Zamfara State, troops stationed at Dauran in Bukkuyum Local Government Area repelled another terrorist assault after receiving reinforcement from a fighting patrol. The terrorists were forced to abandon the attack, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 35 rounds of ammunition, a bandolier and a hydration pack during their withdrawal.

The latest operations reflect the continued operational pressure being mounted against terrorist networks across the North West through coordinated actions involving military personnel, other security agencies and community-based security partners.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the theatre while strengthening collaboration with local communities to enhance security and protect lives and property.
