The initiative formed the focus of activities as the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commissioned the newly completed accommodation blocks at the Headquarters 6 Division on Friday, describing quality housing as a strategic investment in morale, operational readiness and institutional efficiency.

The Army leadership maintained that providing decent, secure and conducive living conditions for personnel and their families directly strengthens combat effectiveness by ensuring soldiers remain motivated and better prepared to fulfil their constitutional responsibility of defending Nigeria's territorial integrity against evolving security threats.

The commissioning also reinforced the Army's broader Soldier-First culture, under which personnel welfare is increasingly being treated as an operational capability rather than a standalone administrative responsibility.

Army leadership further emphasised that sustained investment in accommodation and other welfare initiatives remains essential to building a professional force capable of responding effectively to Nigeria's complex security environment.

The Chief of Army Staff also acknowledged the continued support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that government investment in personnel welfare has strengthened operational effectiveness while enhancing the Nigerian Army's capacity to deliver on its constitutional mandate.

The accommodation project represents another phase of the Army's ongoing nationwide welfare initiatives aimed at improving living standards, boosting morale and sustaining long-term operational readiness across formations.
