Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, disrupting terrorist activity and securing victims from captivity.

The operations, conducted between 18 and 19 August, involved responses to terrorist ambushes, intelligence-led search operations and rapid interventions following reports of terrorist movements and kidnappings across the three states.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, five civilians were rescued on 19 August after troops conducting a patrol in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State encountered and repelled a terrorist ambush. Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists were also recovered.
In Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, troops acting on intelligence rescued three kidnapped victims on 18 August and handed them over to the appropriate local authorities after profiling.
A further intervention in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State resulted in the rescue of two captives after troops responded to reported terrorist activity and forced the attackers to flee. The victims, who sustained gunshot wounds, were evacuated for medical treatment, while troops continued efforts to track the fleeing terrorists.
The coordinated operations reinforce Operation FANSAN YAMMA's continuing focus on rapid response, hostage rescue and sustained pressure against terrorist networks across the North West.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support operations and protect lives and property.
