Speaking at a strategic engagement marking the conclusion of a five-day working visit to Kigali, Lieutenant General Shaibu stressed that countering terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational organized crime requires accelerated intelligence sharing and coordinated, African-led operational frameworks.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the high-level bilateral commitments establish concrete operational targets designed to merge Nigeria’s counterinsurgency experience with Rwanda’s specialized peace support and post-conflict capabilities.
The prioritized collaborative architecture expands beyond traditional military exchanges to encompass specialized army aviation, cybersecurity resilience, joint operational exercises, and direct tech transfer to reduce reliance on external defence suppliers.
Highlighting the critical imperative of technological sovereignty, Major General Nyakarundi affirmed that the bilateral consensus will immediately translate into actionable institutional partnerships, enhancing tactical interoperability and long-term readiness for both armed forces.
