Disambiguating knowledge takes all that you know and that which you are yet to know! Simply put, knowledge is endless.
To discover is to obtain knowledge or sight of what was not known. One could discover by accident or by diligently and painstakingly seeking a piece of information on how a particular thing came to be or operate.
It could even be the creation of a new knowledge.
To discover is to divulge, reveal, disclose, uncover, sunroof, unveil, and so on.

and mind draining very limited number have the capacity and patience it takes
to actually achieve or arrive at a discovery.

A lot of
people study (formally or informally) to acquire knowledge. And every one has
an experience on one thing or the other which informs their knowledge of the
world around them (I stand to be corrected).
When you
seek to know more, you discover a lot that either polishes what you already
know and get new orientation or perspective.
It may
also completely change the way you see what might have been established as
"truth".
Only few people actually take time to discover.

Mostly,
it is the highly imaginative, curious and creative minds that do so. What do
