The Defence Headquarters Nigeria has made it clear that the military will retaliate against the the killing of five of its personnel by IPOB/ ESN Terrorists alongside six civilians caught in cross fire during OPERATION UDO KA at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas adjourning Aba metropolis in Abia State.
A statement signed by the Director Defence Media Operations (DMO) this Major General Edward Buba said the dastardly act against troops will be met with fierce military response as it would bring overwhelming military pressure on the group to ensure their total defeat.
Five personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces on OPERATION UDO KA deployed at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas adjourning Aba metropolis in Abia State, were attacked by the IPOB/ESN Terrorist.
The troops deployed to enforce peace in the area and protect the citizens were massed attacked by the terrorist in 3 tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and others from builtup areas surrounding the checkpoint, sprang a surprise attack on the checkpoint.
The armed forces mourns the death of its troops as each and every soldier lost in battle is a terrible loss. It also says investigation are ongoing concerning the attack.
The DMO Director reinterated that the lifeline of the terrorist is the people and this situation is no exemption stressing that winning the war without the support of the people is close to impossible. And the IPOB capitalised on this to perpetrate attacks on the troops, a situation that leaves more to be desired.
