CDS Says Late Lieutenant General Duba Was An Embodiment of Discipline, a Dedicated Elder Statesman

The Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa has described late Lieutenant General Duba as an embodiment of discipline and a dedicated elder statesman who, after retirement continues to serve the country with passion and utmost loyalty. 
 
The Defence Chief ( CDS), stated this when he  paid a condolence visit to the family of retired senior officer who died on Friday, 19 May 2024 and prayed for the repose of his soul. 

A statement by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Onyema Tukur Gusau said General Musa further described the late Lieutenant General Duba a refined officer and a complete gentleman whose service and experience the country will miss at a critical time of nation building. 
The eldest son, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Duba who received the CDS on behalf of the family appreciated him for the show of love and genuine concern and said the military has showed the family that the service of their late father is not in vain

It would be recalled that late Lieutenant General Duba was born in 1942. He joined the Army as a Cadet officer in 1962, he was later to trained at the Indian Military Academy.  

He was the Military Governor of Bauchi and Sokoto states  from 1978 to 1979 and 1984 to 1985 respectively. In the course of his meritorious service to his father land, he was appointed as the General Officer  Commanding 2 Mechanised Division between 1988 to 1989, later General Officer  Commanding 3 Armoured Division from 1990 to 1992, he was later the Commandant Nigeria Defence Academy. 
The late senior officer retired in 1993 and was appointed Chairman New Nigeria Development Company(NNDC) among other key appointments he held . General Duba
died at the age of 82 years. He left behind his wife, Hajia Rabi Garba Duba,  children and grandchildren.
