Some of the reactions read:
God bless the gallant soldier who didn't receive his military training for nothing.

Nigeria army needs to promote him.

The Army authorities needed to reward this act of gallantry with a good promotion and other incentives.

That's a real captain! Congratulations to him; he shouldn't forget the act of God in his bravery.

experience like this to get to where they are.. Which made this case of a captain favorable for promotion.. As simple as that.

Gallantry. Nigerian Soldiers are well trained

His training were not in vain.

Good news, I salute his bravery.

God bless Nigerian Army. We are lucky to have them.

He has proven to be a worthy soldier. He deserves promotion for that rare courage and gallantry.

Our military men are well trained. It's just that we always publish their bad deeds and not their heroic acts.

Captain Abalaka was said to have been abducted last week along Ekpoma/Okene/Lokoja Road while on his way to report to his new unit at the theatre Command Maiduguri Command in Borno State from 29 Battalion, Port Harcourt.

In a rare display of boldness and bravery, the report said the Army captain attacked the gang of kidnappers and disarmed one of them who had an AK-47, subsequently engaged the other kidnap gang members and set other victims free, along with his dog.
