According to a statement personally signed by the retired Army Spokesman and public affairs analyst, Brigadier General Usman Kukasheka lauded the Theatre Commander, General Officers Commanding, Sector and Brigade Commanders, as well as all troops of the Armed Forces and supporting security agencies, for their renewed synergy and outstanding battlefield performance in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko.
“Your courage, foresight, and total commitment - exemplified by leading from the most perilous frontlines - have inspired the troops with unshakeable confidence, boosted their morale, and reignited their fighting spirit,” he said, describing the successful operations as a reflection of visionary leadership and tactical mastery.
General Usman Kukasheka noted that the coordinated response of the ground forces, supported by the Air Component Command, crushed the terrorists’ intended assaults and led to the neutralisation of a sizable number of insurgents and the recovery of assorted weapons, ammunition, and equipment.
He further described the renewed momentum in the theatre as “a glowing reminder of the indomitable spirit of the Nigerian soldier,” urging the troops to sustain the offensive until peace and stability are fully restored.
While commending the triumphs, Brigadier General Usman also paused to honour the fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
“Their bravery and devotion shall never be forgotten. They gave their all so that others may live in peace and freedom,” he said, extending prayers for the repose of their souls and quick recovery for the wounded.
He called on communities in the North East to sustain their trust and cooperation with the troops, describing such civilian confidence as essential to consolidating the ongoing gains.
“Support them wholeheartedly with information, encouragement, and prayers. These gallant sons and daughters are fighting not merely for land, but for our safety, honour, and way of life,” he appealed.
Brigadier General Usman also urged all tiers of government to continue supporting the Armed Forces through superior equipment, logistics, welfare, and other critical enablers necessary to maintain operational success.
He concluded with a resounding message of national pride: “Our gallant troops, please be assured of the unceasing support and prayers of all patriotic Nigerians. Your victory is not just military - it is a national inspiration, a symbol of our collective resilience.”

RECENT STATEMENT FROM THE THEATRE
*PRESS RELEASE*
*TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI DEFEAT TERRORIST MULTIPLE ATTACKS ACROSS THE JOINT OPERATIONS AREA*
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) with renewed vigour successfully defeated terrorist attacks on multiple locations across the Joint Operations Area in the early hours of today, 23 October 2025.
Between midnight and 0400 hours, the terrorists launched coordinated assaults on troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, situated in Sector 1(Borno State) and Sector 2 (Yobe State) respectively. In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and professionally repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy decisive and bloody blow.
The coordinated offensive response was supported by air platforms of the Air Component Command of OPHK. The precision strikes, coupled with enhanced battlefield awareness provided by Theatre Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, gave troops additional leverage and impetus to respond with overwhelming and lethal force.
The combined ground and air efforts resulted in the neutralisation of over 50 terrorists across all the locations. Troops also recovered 38 AK-47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG tubes, 2 GPMGs and hand grenades along with thousands of assorted belted and loose rounds of different calibres. Additionally, over 70 of the wounded miscreants are still being pursued by ground troops supported by the Air Component in close coordination.
Intelligence further revealed the terrorists who attacked Dikwa and Gajibo manoeuvred from the Cameroon axis, while those that attacked Katarko emerged from the Timbuktu Triangle, a known terrorist enclave.
Some of the gallant troops were wounded in action but are in stable condition. Some vehicles and buildings were also gutted by fire from the terrorists armed drones and RPG fire during the battle especially in Mafa and Dikwa where a part of the defences were momentarily breached.
The Military High Command has commended the gallantry, doggedness and renewed charge of the troops. Their steadfast performance once again reaffirms the military’s unwavering resolve and capacity to defend the nation’s territorial integrity against all threats especially with the introduction of more boots and critical combat enablers into the Theatre.
