The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General AK Ibrahim OFR, has challenged four newly promoted senior officers of the Academy to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence and leadership as they step into higher responsibilities.

The charge came during an investiture ceremony held on Friday at the NDA Officers’ Mess and Golf Club, Afaka, where the officers were decorated with their new ranks of Colonel.
According to a statement signed by the Academy Public Relations Officer, Major M Maidawa, the officers promoted from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel are Colonel HZ Babayo, Colonel I Omeaniba, Colonel US Dabo, and Colonel GN Odo.
Major General Ibrahim congratulated the officers on their elevation, reminding them that promotion comes with *“higher expectations and greater responsibilities.”* He urged them to uphold the Academy’s standards of discipline, continuous learning, and professionalism.
The Commandant noted that the promotions were a reflection of hard work, diligence, and confidence reposed in them by the Armed Forces of Nigeria, stressing the need to translate that trust into action.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Commandant, Air Vice Marshal A Abdulkadir, congratulated the newly promoted officers and described their elevation as a reward for sacrifice and dedication to service. He encouraged them to remain disciplined, motivated, and focused.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Colonel HZ Babayo expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede NAM, for approving their promotion and reaffirmed their collective commitment to loyalty and national service.
He also appreciated the Commandant for his inclusive leadership and extended appreciation to principal staff officers, officers, civilian staff, families, and well-wishers present at the ceremony.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of honours and awards to deserving officers, followed by a group photograph to mark the occasion.
