Troops of 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on Friday, rescued two kidnapped victims in Efagi village, Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a swift counter-attack against armed bandits.

The troops, deployed at the Patrol Base in Lafiagi,
responded to a distress alert and, in collaboration with a local vigilante
group, pursued the criminals. A firefight ensued, forcing the kidnappers to
flee and abandon their captives.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Captain Stephen Nwankwo, one soldier and a vigilante member sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter and were promptly evacuated for medical treatment.
The rescued victims were safely reunited with their families as troops intensified follow-on operations to deny criminals freedom of movement. Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Commander 22 Armoured Brigade, commended the troops for their gallantry and reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to sustain the fight against insecurity. He also urged residents to provide timely intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
