The video according to the Defence Headquarters has been maliciously cloned his image using artificial intelligence.

According to a statement issued by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Samaila Uba, the purported message was never made by the Chief of Defence Staff, any of the Service Chiefs or any personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Defence Headquarters described the video as a deliberate attempt to defame the character of the Chief of Defence Staff and portray the military in negative light. It stressed that the Nigerian military remains a voluntary and noble profession with strong interest from patriotic citizens as consistently demonstrated during recruitment processes.

The statement cautioned members of the public to exercise vigilance in an era of artificial intelligence, disinformation and malinformation, urging them to verify the authenticity of content before sharing.

It further emphasised that only official Defence Headquarters spokespersons and designated social media platforms should be relied upon for credible statements from the Chief of Defence Staff.

The public has been advised to disregard the fake video and associated claims entirely.
