He made this known in a personally signed statement issued on Wednesday in response to the emerging security situation nationwide.

The President stated that the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development was a deliberate step aimed at addressing recurring clashes between herders and farmers. He emphasised that his administration possesses the courage and determination to keep Nigeria safe and ensure citizens live in peace.

“I call on all herder associations to take advantage of it, end open grazing and surrender illegal weapons. Ranching is now the path forward for sustainable livestock farming and national harmony. Our administration created the Livestock Ministry to address the persistent clashes between herders and farmers,” President Tinubu stated.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, he cautioned that those attempting to test the nation’s determination should not mistake its restraint for weakness. He pledged continued support for state governments that have set up security outfits to defend their people from terrorists seeking to undermine the nation’s peace.

The President further urged the National Assembly to commence the review of relevant laws to allow states requiring state police to establish them. He also advised that mosques and churches should routinely seek security support during public worship, particularly in vulnerable areas.

“Mosques and churches should constantly seek police and other security protection when they gather for prayers, especially in vulnerable areas. This administration has the courage and determination to keep the country safe and ensure our citizens live in peace,” he added.

President Tinubu also called on states to reconsider the establishment of boarding schools in remote locations without adequate security measures.

Call to Nigerians

The President urged Nigerians not to yield to fear or despair but to remain united in purpose and strength, stating that safeguarding peace, defending national values and preserving unity demand collective resilience. He called on citizens to remain calm and vigilant, report suspicious activities and cooperate with security agencies.

He expressed deep sympathy to the families of victims of recent attacks on soft targets in Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Yobe and Kwara States. He also paid tribute to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, including Brigadier-General Musa Uba.

“I sympathise with the families who have lost their loved ones in recent attacks. I also pay tribute to our brave soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, including Brigadier-General Musa Uba. Those who want to test our resolve should never mistake our restraint for weakness.”

The President prayed for divine protection over Nigeria and the gallant men and women of the Armed Forces.
