According to a statement signed by the HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the suspects were intercepted by troops after allegedly leading cattle into cultivated community farmlands, causing damage to crops. The swift military response prevented further destruction and a possible confrontation between the herders and farmers.

The Force Commander Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and cautioned members of the public against resorting to self-help. He warned that actions taken outside the law heighten tensions and undermine peaceful co-existence, urging residents to report disputes through appropriate channels.

He also stressed the need for herders to conduct their activities responsibly and avoid behaviours that could escalate conflict or disrupt farming communities. Major General Gara reaffirmed the commitment of Operation WHIRL STROKE to safeguarding agricultural assets and ensuring a secure environment where legitimate livelihoods can thrive.
