The assurance was given while the Army Chief addressed troops at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground during his maiden operational visit to the Headquarters of 6 Division at Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS said his visits to formations and units since assuming command were aimed at gaining firsthand insight into operational readiness and reassessing challenges facing troops.

Lieutenant General Shaibu stressed that deliberate measures were being taken to address identified challenges, noting that the welfare of officers, soldiers and their families remained central to his leadership focus.

He charged troops of the Division to continue protecting critical national infrastructure and to sustain professional conduct in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The COAS further called on personnel to intensify security operations to support increased oil production in the Niger Delta Region, urging them to remain disciplined, committed and dedicated to the Division’s mandate in line with his command philosophy.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, briefed the COAS on ongoing operations across the Niger Delta Region and conducted him round key projects within the barracks.

The visit featured a symbolic tree planting exercise by the COAS and accompanying Principal Staff Officers, as well as an interactive session with officers and soldiers, where he further reaffirmed his commitment to troop welfare.
