The Army clarified that the Chief of Army Staff does not operate or maintain any official social media account on any platform, warning that such fraudulent pages are the handiwork of unscrupulous individuals.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, members of the public are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant against scammers using these fake accounts to defraud unsuspecting individuals, solicit funds or spread misinformation in the name of the COAS or the Nigerian Army.

The statement urged citizens not to engage with, respond to or share content from such accounts under any circumstances.

The Nigerian Army disclosed that necessary steps are already being taken to identify and apprehend the operators of the fake accounts, with a view to prosecuting them in line with extant laws.

The Army further reassured Nigerians of its continued commitment to protecting citizens, defending the nation’s territorial integrity and upholding constitutional responsibilities.
