The Nigerian Army has launched an intensified internal accountability process after declaring one of its personnel wanted over allegations of illegally supplying military uniforms, a move the Army says reinforces its zero-tolerance policy against actions capable of aiding terrorists and other criminal groups.

The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps announced that Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, is wanted over his alleged involvement in the unlawful sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
According to the Corps, preliminary investigations indicate that the soldier absconded from his unit on 3 June 2026.
Military authorities have consequently declared him wanted, while intensive efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him for a comprehensive investigation and disciplinary proceedings in accordance with extant military laws.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps stressed that it maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline or any act capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security.
The Corps stated that any personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Corps appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating and arresting the wanted soldier.
It advised that any useful information should be reported to the nearest military formation or any recognised security agency.
Internal Controls To Be Strengthened
Reaffirming its commitment to accountability and professionalism, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps stated that it will continue strengthening internal control measures to safeguard military assets and prevent unauthorised diversion of controlled items.
The Corps added that every allegation of misconduct will be thoroughly investigated, while personnel found culpable will be held fully accountable under the law.
