The Nigerian Army is strengthening its non-kinetic approach to security in Borno State by supporting education and community resilience in Monguno, using targeted civil-military initiatives to deepen trust and cooperation with communities hosting military formations.

A statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said Headquarters Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI/Multinational Joint Task Force donated educational materials to selected schools in Monguno Local Government Area on August 8 as part of its Civil-Military Cooperation activities.
The intervention forms part of the Sector’s broader effort to complement ongoing military operations with initiatives addressing identified community needs, with the objective of promoting mutual trust, confidence and cooperation within its Area of Responsibility.
Presenting the materials on behalf of the Sector Commander, Brigadier General Shehu Ahmed, the Commander Sector 3 Garrison, Brigadier General Ikechukwu Ogundele, reaffirmed the Sector’s commitment to initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of host communities.
Brigadier General Ogundele identified education as fundamental to sustainable development and community resilience, stressing that the military would continue supporting people-oriented initiatives that contribute to peace and stability.
The Commander further linked the intervention directly to the military’s security mission, noting that meaningful engagement with host communities strengthens understanding, trust and cooperation between civilians and security forces.
That approach places the donation within the Sector’s non-kinetic operations rather than treating it as a standalone welfare intervention. The stated objective is to complement kinetic operations by strengthening the community relationships considered essential to sustaining peace and security across the North-East.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the Monguno Local Government Authority, Mr Babagana Modu Kur expressed appreciation for the intervention and commended the Sector for supporting educational development in the community.
Mr Kur assured the Sector that the materials would be equitably distributed among the benefiting schools to maximise their impact, while also acknowledging the Nigerian military’s efforts towards restoring peace and normalcy in Borno State.
The intervention therefore reflects a broader security approach in which military effectiveness is supported by sustained engagement with civilian populations. By addressing identified community needs while maintaining its operational posture, Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF is seeking to strengthen the trust and cooperation required for its wider security mission.
The educational support forms part of the Sector’s continuing Civil-Military Cooperation activities within its Area of Responsibility, with further community-focused engagements intended to reinforce the relationship between the military and the civilian population.
