A joint offensive by Operation HADIN KAI and the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team has dismantled a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, with more than 21 terrorists neutralised as security forces intensify efforts to locate and rescue abducted persons.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of 27 August 2026, involved the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State. Acting on credible intelligence and navigating difficult terrain, the joint force conducted a stealth insertion before striking the terrorist enclave.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed that the offensive was undertaken as part of sustained efforts to locate and rescue victims held by terrorist elements, including persons abducted from Mussa community in May and Lassa schoolchildren abducted in June 2026.
The joint force engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters before gaining control of the area. More than 21 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Troops subsequently dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed associated logistics infrastructure, further degrading the group’s ability to operate from the mountainous area.
Exploitation of the camp also led to the destruction of several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, believed to have supported terrorist mobility and logistics. Security forces recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The operation demonstrates the growing emphasis on intelligence-led joint action to project combat power into difficult terrain while simultaneously targeting terrorist manpower, logistics and operational infrastructure.
The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and Operation HADIN KAI troops for their coordination, professionalism and resilience during the operation, describing the action as part of the wider effort to degrade terrorist elements wherever they establish bases or seek refuge.
Operation HADIN KAI said search and rescue operations remain ongoing, with troops continuing efforts to locate and recover the abducted persons. The Theatre also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds, disrupting logistics and denying terrorist elements freedom of action across the North East.
