140 Terrorists Neutralized, 176 Surrender to Operation LAKE SANITY 2 Under MNJTF - Force Commander

The Multinational Joint Task Force MNJTF says it has neutralized 140 terrorists, recorded the surrender of 176 and the arrested 57 individuals involved in terrorist activities in the course of Operation LAKE SANITY 2. 

The Commander Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General Ibrahim Ali made this known at a Press Conference to update the public on the progress of Operation Lake Sanity 2, held at the Headquarters Theater Command, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to General Ali, the MNJTF has recovered a notable cache of armaments, including 796 x rounds of ammunition, one x PKM machine gun, 5 x AK-47 rifles, 2 x motorcycles, and 8 x magazines, alongside various other arms, ammunition and logistics support items.
It would be recalled that Operation LAKE SANITY 2 commenced on 23 April 2024 with the participation of troops from Cameroon, Chad, and Nigeria. 

The operation, General Ali testified have seen troops put in relentless efforts in clearing locations such as Doron Naira, Zanari, Bagadaza, and other key terrorist strongholds in Lake Chad area. 

He said Air Interdictions by the Air component's have been highly effective in Operation LAKE SANITY 2 air interdictions have been highly effective as the aerial operations by national Airforces from Chad, Nigeria and Cameroon led to the destruction of crucial terrorist logistic bases staging areas, particularly around Tumbum Fulani and other key locations. 
"Over 140 x terrorists were neutralized during these air strikes, and a significant amount of terrorist platforms and materiel were destroyed, severely crippling their operational capabilities" 

"regrettably, we have recorded 6 x casualties among the multinational troops since the operation began. Their bravery and sacrifice shall not be forgotten. We also pray for the quick recovery of the injured" stated General Ali. 

The Force Commander said though the operation continues, the advancements made by the Force are critical steps towards restoring peace and stability in the region. 
He expressed appreciation to the Chiefs of Defence Staff from all the troops contributing countries and assured them that the MNJTF remains committed to its mandate of creating a safe and secure environment in the Lake Chad areas affected by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups.

He equally acknowledged the support provided by national operations such as Operation EMERGENCE 4 in Cameroon, Operation HADIN KAI in Nigeria, the Chadian national operations and Sector 4 in Diffa, Niger Republic which have been instrumental.
