The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) says it has received 5 swamp buggies donated by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the Borno State Government to intensify security and economic activities in the Lake Chad region.
A statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF N'Djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba affirmed that the delivery of the specialized equipment marks a critical step in strengthing the Task Force's operational infrastructures.
The official handover ceremony according to the statement took place at the Navy Base Lake Chad Fish Dam, where the Governor of Borno State who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, commissioned the buggies.
He noted that the donation is part of the commitment of political authorities towards stabilizing the Lake Chad Basin while highlighting the buggies' crucial role in enhancing waterway clearance operations, paving the way for safer navigation and renewed economic activity.
The Force Commander MNJTF Major General Godwin Mutkut expressed gratitude to the contributing countries for their unwavering support, acknowledging the Borno State Government and the NEDC for their successful coordination of this initiative.
General Mutkut underscored the pivotal role these swamp buggies will play in the MNJTF's riverine operations, enabling enhanced mobility and responsiveness against terrorist threats.
He further stated that this enhanced logistics support will be instrumental in sustaining the MNJTF's momentum in its fight against terrorism and fostering stability in the region. This collaborative effort signifies a united front against insecurity and a shared commitment to restoring peace and prosperity to the Lake Chad Basin.
