The CDS unveiled
the new identity in Jos at the official flag-off, declaring that the shift
signalled a stronger mandate and wider strategy to end decades of recurrent
violence. “This is not about temporary safety,
but a peace that will endure for generations,” he said.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, General Musa stressed that security challenges demand sustainable solutions integrating military, political, judicial, and community efforts. He directed troops to carry the new badge with pride, discipline, and renewed vigour.

Oyinlola, said the rebranding would make the force “more proactive, intelligence-driven and result-oriented,”
while urging stakeholders, from community leaders to youth groups, to close
ranks with security agencies.
Chief of Defence Operations, Major General EV Onumajuru, added that the fresh mandate would strengthen early warning mechanisms and dominate ungoverned spaces with community support.
The flag-off featured quarter guard inspection, hoisting of the new OPEP flag, decoration of the Commander, and address to troops of 3 Division and JTF OPEP.
